Born in Kintore, an isolated Aboriginal community located approximately 550 km west of Alice Springs, Alison Larry Nungarrayi belongs to the Aboriginal communities of the Australian Western Desert. After the death of her father during her childhood, she was raised by her mother alongside her three sisters. She now lives in Kiwirrkurra, a community located in the Gibson Desert of Western Australia, west of Alice Springs. Alison is the Granddaughter of the great Naata Nungurrayi

Alison Larry Nungarrayi joined the Yuendumu art centre, where she developed a contemporary artistic practice deeply connected to ancestral narratives of the Jukurrpa (Dreaming). She depicts in particular the Yumari site, located near Kintore and characterised by a group of rock formations associated with traditional stories. Through an original palette and an individual pictorial language, she explores the relationships between Country, ancestral memory and cultural transmission.
